Gurgaon is a top emerging destination for real estate developments. The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) recently has warned that the property tax defaulters to pay the dues by July 31, 2021. If they fail to do so, they will have to face disconnection of power and water supply.
This is a warning given to all the defaulters of property tax, as the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has directed that if the due taxes are not paid till July 31, 2021, the water and electricity connections could be discontinued. Not only this, the civic body is also offering a rebate of almost 10 percent on the property tax payment till July 31, 2021.
The commissioner of MCG i.e. Mukesh Kumar Ahuja has stated that the residents who are living in the residential projects in Gurgaon can pay property tax online on the website of the MCG also. There are few simple steps online while people can also opt to make the due payment at the designated citizen facilitation centres of MCG offices in respective Sectors 34 and 42.
Moreover, the payment can be made through Demand Draft (DD) or through debit and credit cards. It is to be noted that cash payment of upto Rs 5,000 is accepted at the citizen facilitation centres.
As the civic body is in a view to collect the due amount, they have served over 2,000 notices to the defaulters to submit the property tax. In the Financial Year (FY) 2021-22, the cumulative tax collection was almost around Rs 29 crore. However, the property tax collection in the month of April and May was Rs 1.02 crore and Rs 3.49 crore, respectively.
